Location

Classes are held in the Studio space at Amble Creative Wellbeing.

Main entrance is on the roadside (green door at the top of the steps).

Customer parking is available to the rear of the building - car park entrance is via a narrow entrance to the right hand side of the building.

Address

Amble, 56 Station Road, Gomshall, Guildford GU5 9LB, United Kingdom

Our Space

We set ourselves up in Amble's studio space, which is usually used for yoga/pilates classes. To help keep it fresh and comfortable, we’d really appreciate it if you could slip off your shoes before you enter the studio. Alternatively, shoe covers are available by the entrance; or you can bring along a comfy pair of clean indoor footwear to put on. Appreciate your understanding

Arriving

  • We are located in Gomshall, a small village on the A25 in the Surrey Hills between Guildford and Dorking.
  • By car: Amble has its own customer car park - entrance is to the right hand side of the main building (if facing the building from the other side of the road); please just be mindful of the residential parking spaces within the same car park.
  • By train: Gomshall station is less than a 5 minute walk.
  • Please use the main building entrance (green door at the top of the stairs on the road-side) and make your way through to the Studio internally via the shop.
  • To keep the session running smoothly and avoid disrupting the first pose, I recommend arriving at least 5-10 minutes early to settle in. The entrance will be locked and our model will strike their first pose at 7pm on the dot. Unfortunately entrance cannot be guaranteed for late comers

What to expect during the class

  • We work through a range of timed poses lasting between 1 and 30 minutes, during the 2 hour session, with a 15 minute midway interval.
  • This structure may be tweaked from class to class.
  • The interval is a great opportunity to lay out your work if you are inclined to do so. Personally this is my favourite thing to do. There will also be time to eat a biscuit; use the loo; or pay the drop in fee if applicable.
  • Class wraps up promptly at 9pm. If you could gather your things fairly soon after the last pose, that’ll help us clear the space and give us a smooth end to the evening.

What to Bring

  • Your favourite drawing materials if you have these. (We provide enough stationary to get you up and running - A3 drawing boards, A4/A3 paper, B range pencils, charcoal pencils, rubbers and sharpener - i will adjust and refine these offerings from time to time so that participants have the opportunity to experiment with more materials.)
  • A pair of indoor slippers or shoes (if you’re not using shoe covers or not comfortable in socks)
  • A sense of curiosity, openness, and non-judgement — this is an untutored, mixed-ability group.
  • A readiness to relax and enjoy a friendly, creative atmosphere.

Code of Conduct

Our life drawing sessions are built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared appreciation for the figure as subject. To ensure a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for all, we ask that every participant and model agrees to the following:

Respect for Life Models

  • Nudity is a professional, artistic element of these sessions. Treat it with respect and sensitivity.
  • No photography or video is allowed during sessions unless explicitly agreed in writing by both the model and organiser.
  • No physical contact with the model is permitted at any time.
  • No comments or discussions about the model’s body or appearance — regardless of intention.
  • All communication about poses, timings, or adjustments should go through the organiser, not directly to the model (unless previously agreed).

Respect for Participants

  • This is an inclusive, judgement-free space open to all skill levels and backgrounds.
  • Please refrain from giving unsolicited feedback or critique on others’ work.
  • Keep voices low during sessions to maintain focus and concentration.
  • Disruptive or inappropriate behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in removal without refund.

Respect for the Space

  • Please arrive on time. Late arrivals may not be admitted once the model has disrobed.
  • Turn off or silence your mobile phones & other electronic devices. Please keep these out of sight during sessions.
  • Handle all tools, equipment and furniture provided by the venue with care.
  • Clean up your area at the end of the session — respect the shared space.

Privacy and Conduct

  • We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate conduct.
  • If a participant, model, or organiser feels uncomfortable, we encourage speaking to the organiser in private — during a break or after the session.
  • Breaches of this Code of Conduct may result in immediate removal from the session and exclusion from future events.

Feedback & Concerns

We are always open to feedback and committed to making our sessions safe, respectful, and enjoyable for all. Please don’t hesitate to contact gomshall.life.drawing@gmail.com if you have any concerns.

Thank you for helping us foster a welcoming and creative environment.
